Every year, the Caithness Sports Council gives out awards to deserving sportsmen and women. The categories for these awards are:

Sportsman and Sportswoman of the Year
Sportspersons of the year are nominated by their clubs and are for local amateur sportspersons who have attained a high level of achievement in their chosen sport at district, national or international level. The Sports Council Executive selects from those nominated.

The Lady Thurso Award
The disabled sportsperson award (also known as the Lady Thurso Award) was introduced in 1988 in recognition of the increasing number of disadvantaged persons who take an active interest in sport and recreation in Caithness.

SALSC Services To Sport Award
The Scottish Association of Local Sports Councils (SALSC) ‘Services to Sport’ award is an engraved Edinburgh Crystal plate donated by SportScotland for someone who has made an outstanding voluntary contribution to sport in recent years. This can be an administrator, secretary, coach or other volunteer but not a competitor, performer, team or club.

Certificates of Excellence
Excellence certificates are given to sporting individuals who have received excellence grants from the sports council for representing Caithness/Scotland/UK at national/international level.
